How to Care for Your Origins Clothing Co Apparel
We want your Pan-African apparel to last as long as the history it represents. Because we use high-quality Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing and premium embroidery, our products require specific care to keep the colors vibrant and the fabric soft.
Printed T-Shirts, Hoodies, and Sweatshirts
Our printed garments are made using DTG technology, which binds the ink directly to the fabric fibers. To prevent fading or cracking:
- Wash: Machine-wash cold, inside-out on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and like colors.
- Bleach: Use non-chlorine bleach only when absolutely necessary. Do not use fabric softeners.
- Dry: Hang-dry is highly recommended for the longest life. If you must use a dryer, tumble-dry on a low cycle.
- Iron: Cool iron inside-out if necessary. Never iron directly on the print.
- Do Not: Do not dry clean.
Embroidered Hats, Beanies, and Apparel
Our embroidered items feature high-quality, dense stitching. To keep the threads tight and clean:
- Wash: Machine-wash cold, inside-out on a gentle cycle. For hats and bags, spot-clean with a damp cloth.
- Dry: Do not wring out embroidered items. Hang-dry or tumble-dry on a cool air setting.
- Iron: If ironing is needed, do it inside-out, preferably between two pieces of cloth. Do not use a steam iron or wet the embroidery before ironing.
All-Over Print (Sublimation) Products
For items where the design covers the entire fabric (like certain hoodies or accessories):
- Wash: Machine-wash cold with like colors. Do not use bleach.
- Dry: Tumble-dry on low heat.
- Do Not: Do not iron or dry clean.
Note: You may notice a slight vinegar-like smell or an off-white residue on your printed shirts when you first receive them. This is a normal part of the printing process and will completely disappear after the first wash.
